Seven foreign nationals were barred from entering Malaysia at the Bukit Kayu Hitam border for failing to meet entry requirements, including providing dubious travel details.

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: Seven foreign nationals were denied entry into Malaysia at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.

The individuals failed to comply with the country’s entry requirements, according to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

AKPS commander SAC Mohd Nasarudin Md Nasir said a Cambodian woman in her 30s was refused entry at 11.30am yesterday.

She was barred for providing doubtful and inconsistent travel information to immigration officers.

Similar action was taken against six Indian men in their 40s at about 11pm the same day.

They failed to provide a credible purpose for their travel to Malaysia.

Further checks revealed the men possessed invalid flight tickets.

They also attempted to mislead officers by claiming they did not know one another.

Investigations, however, found all six held flight tickets with the same date and time.

All seven individuals were issued Notices of Refusal of Entry in accordance with immigration laws.

Further action was then taken based on standard operating procedures.

“We will not compromise with any individual who fails to comply with the country’s entry requirements,” Mohd Nasarudin said in a statement today.

He added this was to ensure the safety and sovereignty of Malaysia’s borders are preserved.
