Soldier killed in expressway crash with trailer near Kampar

A Malaysian Army soldier died after his motorcycle grazed a trailer’s tyre and he was run over on the North-South Expressway near Kampar

KAMPAR: A 27-year-old soldier was killed in an accident involving his motorcycle and a trailer on the North-South Expressway this afternoon.

Kampar police chief Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud said police received information about the crash at Kilometre 296.7 northbound near Kampar at about 2.20 pm.

The victim, Muhammad Adam Ibrahim, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was riding a Sym Husky 150 SE motorcycle at the time of the incident.

“Preliminary investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred when the victim’s motorcycle grazed the trailer’s right tyre, causing the rider to fall onto the road, where he was then run over by the trailer,” Mohamad Nazri said in a statement.

The victim’s body was sent to Kampar Hospital for a post-mortem. The 53-year-old lorry driver was not injured in the crash.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
