Terengganu completes hydrology station maintenance ahead of monsoon

Terengganu JPS completes maintenance on 93 rain stations and 54 river-level stations to ensure accurate flood warnings during monsoon season

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Drainage and Irrigation Department has completed comprehensive maintenance on its hydrological telemetry stations ahead of the Northeast Monsoon.

Director Osman Abdullah said the proactive measure ensures all systems monitoring rainfall, river levels and flood early-warning sirens function optimally.

Maintenance covered 93 rain stations, 54 river-level stations, 10 webcam stations and flood sirens at 11 locations.

“This step ensures all equipment functions well to transmit accurate and real-time data to the main control centre,” Osman told Bernama.

He confirmed all stations across the state have been fully serviced for reliable hydrological data.

The information helps the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre issue more effective flood warnings during continuous heavy rain.

Key maintenance included inspecting rain and water-level sensors plus calibrating data transmission systems.

Station-area cleaning and minor infrastructure repairs were also completed.

“With strengthened technical readiness, the loss of life and property due to flooding can be prevented or minimised,” Osman said.

The Northeast Monsoon season began yesterday and continues until March next year.

Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasts five to seven heavy rain episodes during this period. – Bernama

Alfa Romeo Marks the Quadrifoglio Legacy with Exclusive Giulia and Stelvio Collezione Models

Alfa Romeo has introduced two highly exclusive creations, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Collezione and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Collezione, developed in tribute to one of the brand’s most enduring icons — the Quadrifoglio. The emblem, first painted onto Ugo Sivocci’s Alfa Romeo RL when he won the 1923 Targa Florio, became the mark of the brand’s racing machinery for decades. In 1963 it shifted from the circuit to the road with the Giulia Ti Super, and from then on it distinguished Alfa Romeo’s most powerful and exclusive road-going models. That pivotal year forms the inspiration for this new Collezione series, which has been limited to just 63 units worldwide. Two Giulia units have been earmarked for the UK, while the rest will be distributed across Europe, the Middle East, China and Japan.
