Poland launches human trafficking probe into Epstein network

Polish prosecutors investigate human trafficking linked to Jeffrey Epstein, suspecting women and minors were recruited in Poland for sexual exploitation abroad.

WARSAW: Polish prosecutors have opened a human trafficking investigation linked to the network of the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The National Prosecutor’s Office is examining whether women, including minors, were recruited in Poland under false pretences about employment opportunities abroad.

It suspects perpetrators arranged for victims to be transported outside Poland and handed over to others for sexual exploitation.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed last month that officials were examining Epstein’s possible links to Russian intelligence and his ties to Poland.

Following this, Justice Minister Waldemar Zurek stated that secret services, prosecutors, and police were collaborating to investigate Polish accomplices within Epstein’s circle.

Poland has also submitted formal requests for assistance with the investigation to two other European countries, which have not been named.

Human trafficking carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years under Polish law.
