Tyson Fury confirms boxing comeback for 2026

Heavyweight star Tyson Fury announces his return to the ring in 2026, reversing his latest retirement declaration after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

TYSON Fury has announced he will return to boxing in 2026.

The heavyweight star confirmed his comeback on Instagram, nearly a year after announcing his latest retirement from the sport.

Fury posted: “2026 is that year. Return of the mac. Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching.”

He added there was “nothing better to do than punch men in the face and get paid for it.”

This marks another reversal for Fury, who has a history of retiring only to return.

He initially retired after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but fought again later that year.

His most recent retirement followed two consecutive points losses to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.

Fury was angered by the judges’ decisions in those fights, his only professional defeats.

Speculation of a comeback grew after he posted several training clips on social media over the festive period.

A long-awaited all-British fight against Anthony Joshua has been repeatedly discussed.

Plans for a potential bout were being formulated for late summer or the end of 2026.

However, a recent car crash in Nigeria involving Joshua has likely delayed those plans.

If Joshua is unavailable, Fury could seek a third fight against unified champion Usyk.

An alternative opponent could be WBO champion Fabio Wardley.

A victory over either would see Fury join Muhammad Ali as a three-time world heavyweight champion.
