A local horror thriller film is set to premiere in theatres, kicking off the year 2024 with an enigmatic storyline revolving around a haunted agreement.
Grand Brilliance Studio presents the return of the horror sequel, Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2. The movie is now back to fulfill its promise to spook local horror film fans in Malaysia and Brunei cinemas.
After the release of the first film in 2019, directed by Helmi Yusof, the much-anticipated sequel sees esteemed director Dr Ahmad Idham making a comeback to the director’s chair after a four-year hiatus from filmmaking.
“This film is based on a true story. I combine spiritual and mystical standpoints, and it has its own bitter challenges that I must face. This is because the issues and emotional parts are very deep and heavy, which is why I had to be very careful when transcribing about how people are greedy for worldly things,” Dr Ahmad said.
“This movie is different from dramas and romantic comedies because it uses rituals, which have their own rules that must be followed to avoid arguments and keep things sensitive. My work this time, which includes writing the script and having a great cast to back it up, will be liked by many and bring people to the movies.”
Media Prima Television Network and Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Nini Yusof expressed satisfaction about partnering with Dr Ahmad on his latest project.
“I’m sure this dramatic horror genre will get the attention of viewers in Malaysia and the archipelago,” she said.
Dr Ahmad will work on the movie with Eyka Farhana, who has been entrusted with the pivotal main role in the film. The production will also feature acclaimed actors such as Alif Satar and Fasha Sandha, promising a captivating and star-studded continuation of the Anak Perjanjian Syaitan series.
The movie sequel intricately weaves the tale of Azlinda, played by Eyka Farhana. Azlinda is a young woman caught up in a terrifying battle with a supernatural force that has haunted her since childhood.
Despite being clinically diagnosed with anxiety disorder, Azlinda firmly believes that the illness has a strong connection to the gloomy past surrounding her parents.
Azlinda’s father reluctantly surrenders her to a welfare centre as the weight of this dark legacy becomes unbearable. The story follows her struggle against a doomsday prophecy that seems ingrained in her blood as she confronts her dark past.
Can Azlinda fight the evil forces that threaten her, or will she be doomed to a life of darkness? The film explores identity, family and the relentless pursuit of light in the shadows, promising a gripping and suspenseful journey of Azlinda.
Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2 will be released in theatres on Jan 4, 2024.
