Toronto-based artist Ethan Low is R&B’s newest darling. The 22-year-old Malaysian-Canadian TikTok sensation has been making waves in his hometown of Toronto and beyond – from garnering the attention of K-Pop members such as Jacob from The Boyz; opening for Korean-Canadian icon JUNNY and Korean rapper GEMINI; to building a dedicated online fanbase all on his own terms. Honest and unabashed in his storytelling, Ethan’s music vividly explores the ugliness of what it means to be human and “unlocking the beauty within that darkness”.
Ethan’s journey as an artist began in late 2022, when he started uploading snippets of his original music on TikTok. In three short months, Ethan amassed almost 30,000 followers and a legion of dedicated fans and listeners – all by his own hand and with zero additional support. Ethan revealed his debut single ‘BUBBLY’ (released on February 28, 2023) which cemented his status as the artist to watch: receiving over 12,000 pre-saves and 10 million views pre-release, and garnering over 2.5m streams within two weeks of its release.
‘BUBBLY’ has since gone on to claim the #5 spot on Spotify’s global viral chart – making it the 5th most viral song in the world. The song is also trending on Spotify’s viral charts in Vietnam (#5), Philippines (#7), Thailand (#22), Malaysia (#12), Singapore (#16), and Indonesia (#25).
Following the success of ‘BUBBLY’, Ethan released a second single entitled ‘GEMINI’ (released on March 17, 2023) which has been met with the same level of enthusiasm and celebration – adding yet another international viral hit to Ethan’s repertoire.
Ethan Low will continue to release new music on a monthly basis for the rest of the year, eventually culminating in the birth of his debut EP. Focused on creating a legacy that spans the globe, Ethan intends on closing the divide between the East, West, and everywhere in between.
