M’sian left annoyed after e-hailing driver chooses to have dinner before picking him up

When one pays for e-hailing services, we pretty much hope the driver arrives on time, unless he runs into some sort of trouble. But imagine if you’re rushing to a location and your e-hailing driver informs you that he will be having his dinner first before actually picking you up.

That’s actually what happened to frustrated user Khairul who’s e-hailing driver accepted his booking and went for a meal first before coming for him. He took to X where he shared screenshots of a conversation he had with the driver.

In the screenshot, Khairul can be seen asking the e-hailing driver if he was nearby to which the driver replied, “Sorry bro, me go eat dinner first”.

Khairul, clearly surprised at this response, questioned the driver’s actions again, “So you go eat first?”

The man replied yes and Khairul, frustrated, scolded the driver for accepting his booking in the first place and thereby causing him to run late.

He captioned his post on X, “Why does Grab hire such stupid drivers? Accept (my booking) but goes for a meal. I’m already late!”

He later adds in the comments that he tried his luck with getting two other drivers but unfortunately both of them cancelled on him.

In the comment section, the e-hailing company can be seen replying to Khairul, “Hi Khairul, our apologies regarding this issue with our driver. This cancellation has been marked in the driver’s account because driver’s who have a high cancellation rate will be suspended for further actions”.

Under the post, netizens discussed what could have been the cause of the incident. Some netizens suggested that the e-hailing app’s auto-accept feature, which creates a loophole for drivers to not pick up passengers without getting penalised.
