A guy in Singapore recently harboured a grudge after presuming that his new-born child with his fiancée did not resemble him, thus ultimately resulting in him attempting to choke her and threatening to kill both her and the child with a knife.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the guy, 39-year-old Fariz, received his first glance at his child in the hospital but believed that the new-born didn’t look anything like him.
This prompted him to have an altercation with his then-fiancée at the house of his future mother-in-law around 4 a.m. on May 21, 2023.
During the altercation, Fariz took a knife from the kitchen and held it in his right hand while using his left hand to strangle his fiancée, who was holding the infant.
The uproar woke up his fiancée’s little sister, who hurried to protect Fariz’s fiancée as she watched the scene unfold.
To prevent Fariz from assaulting them again, the fiancée kicked him as her sister shoved his hand away. He did, however, try to strangle his fiancée for the second time.
Since it was unsuccessful, Fariz threatened to kill both his fiancée and the baby while waving the knife at them.
Surprisingly, the fiancée did not say anything during the whole debate.
Finally, before leaving the house, Fariz apologized to his fiancée and her sister.
Despite the fact that Fariz eventually married his fiancée. However, his future was regarded grim owing to his previous violent behaviour.
On December 26, Fariz asked for forgiveness in court, claiming he deeply regretted what he had done.
He was sentenced to five years and nine weeks in prison, as well as three cane strokes, for criminal breach of trust, intimidation, and narcotics offenses.
