DURIAN is undoubtedly a delicious fruit but would you fork out RM185,000 for it?

One man did and this made the highly coveted Musang King durian which originated from the Raub district in Pahang as one of the most expensive durians in the world.

Allegedly, the starting bid for the Raub Musang King durian was RM2,000, and after a few bidders tried their luck, Huang Qi Wen’s RM185,000 bid was the winning one.

The second highest bid went to a Black Thorn durian for RM15,000.

According to a Facebook post shared by the Pahang Exco of Communication and Multimedia, Youth, Sports, and Non-Government Bodies Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, the proceeds of the auction would go to Raub’s SMK Sg Ruan in efforts to improve the school infrastructure.

On top of that, Dato’ Lye We Ken further contributed RM204,444 through the auction program. The event raised a total of RM404,444 in revenue.
