Her colleague would always message her asking, “If you’re buying breakfast, can you get some for me too?”
A Malaysian woman recently took to Threads to vent her frustration after finally losing her patience with a colleague who constantly relied on her to buy breakfast.
The woman, who starts work at 10am, explained that her colleague—who comes in at 8.30am and lives in an area filled with breakfast stalls—would always message her asking, “If you’re buying breakfast, can you get some for me too?”
She added that this request happened on a daily basis, and on days when she did not buy breakfast, the colleague would go on to complain about being hungry.
The situation came to a head when the woman decided not to purchase breakfast because she had no appetite.
“Then she started whining—saying she was hungry, had no energy, couldn’t work.”
The woman said she initially responded politely, telling her colleague she felt lazy and did not want to go out. However, this did not stop the colleague, who replied, “I’m lazy to wake up early and go down to buy breakfast, that’s why I want to order through you.”
Fed up, the woman told her colleague to buy her own breakfast instead.
“The office has biscuits, there’s coffee—drink that. The mamak is open, go buy. You’re the one who’s hungry, but I’m the one who has to deal with your complaints about having an empty stomach.”
Despite this, the colleague continued to persist, repeatedly trying to get the woman to go with her.
That was when the woman finally snapped, shouting her colleague’s name—much to her surprise.
“She froze, smiled awkwardly, then left the office.
“That’s it. Happy Tuesday.”
