Ministers call for reflection on faith, prayer on Israk Mikraj

Deputy PM and ministers urge Muslims to reflect on Israk Mikraj, emphasising prayer, faith and national values in their greetings.

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and several ministers have extended Israk Mikraj 1447H greetings.

In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid called on Muslims to reflect on the significant event in Islamic history.

He said the event serves as a reminder of a journey of faith that demands conviction, obedience, and steadfastness of heart.

“May our reflection on Israk Mikraj continue to nurture our relationship with Allah SWT, strengthen the practice of prayer (solat) in our daily lives, and guide our steps toward the well-being of the ummah (community) and the progress of the nation, God willing,” he said.

Israk Mikraj commemorates the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s miraculous journey from Makkah to Jerusalem and his ascension to Sidratul Muntaha.

This event established the five daily obligatory prayers as a pillar of a Muslim’s life.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the event is a call for Muslims to collectively strengthen their faith and refine their character.

“Israk Mikraj reminds us that in every journey of life, our relationship with Allah SWT is our true strength,” he posted on X.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu noted the event reminds Muslims of the strength of faith and the bond with the Creator.

He said the command of prayer acts as a source of peace, discipline, and spiritual strength.

Mohamad Sabu added that true national progress must be rooted in the values of honesty and integrity.

“These values are the heartbeat of all levels of society, including farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen who work hard for their families’ livelihoods and the nation’s survival,” he said.

He described these workers as the nation’s food heroes whose welfare must be protected. – Bernama
