Three held over alleged threats to developer’s workers

Police investigating alleged threats to burn machinery and stone-throwing incidents involving a developer’s workers in Chenor, Pahang.

KUANTAN: Three men have been detained to assist investigations after they allegedly obstructed cleaning work by employees of a developer, chased them away, threatened to burn machinery, and threw stones at the company vehicles.

Maran  police chief Supt Wong Kim Wai said the three, aged between 28 and 61, were detained around Kampung Chot and Kampung Paya Besar, Chenor, on July 16.

“The three suspects were brought before the Maran Magistrate’s Court and a one-day remand order was granted on July 17,” he said in a statement.

Wong said police had obtained supporting evidence, including video recordings related to the report, while other statements had also been recorded.

“The investigation papers will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor soon for further instructions,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

He said police had so far not received any reports from Kampung Chot residents regarding claims that several houses had been burned by the developer.

Wong urged the public not to speculate on the matter and assured that police would take action against any parties involved.
