Father recalls last moments with son S.K. Kiisven, 17, one of six killed when a car collided with a lorry near Karak, Bentong, early Friday.
TEMERLOH: The aspirations of 17-year-old S. K. Kiisven to pursue a career in the automotive industry were cut short after he was killed in a road accident at Kilometre 86 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur–Kuantan, near Karak, Bentong, early this morning.
The victim’s father, C. Sasi Kumar, 47, said his second child was pursuing a skills course at a vocational academy in Karak, Bentong.
“He had a keen interest in cars and motorcycles, which is why he enrolled in the automotive course in Karak. However, he always returned home every weekend,” he said when met at the Forensic Medicine Unit of Hospital Sultan Ahmad Shah here today.
Sasi Kumar said the last time he saw his son was around 1 am at a temple near their home in Sungai Kawang, Lanchang, while making preparations for a religious ceremony scheduled for today.
“I decided to head home early because I felt tired, then received a phone call around 4.30 am informing me that Kiisven had been involved in an accident. I immediately rushed to the scene,” said Sasi Kumar, who works as a plantation supervisor.
Kiisven was among six individuals who perished in the crash involving two vehicles, including a lorry, at around 4 am today.
The other fatalities were identified as the car driver, V. Mugilan, 25, and his friends K. Dineshvaran, 22; K. Alaganathan, 21; A. Kanabati Raja, 19; and M. Paranthaman, 16. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old lorry driver sustained severe injuries.
Police said investigations revealed the Toyota Camry car carrying the victims was travelling from Kuantan towards Kuala Lumpur when it lost control while travelling downhill, veered into the opposing lane, and collided with the oncoming lorry.
