The MADANI government starts STR 2026 phase one payments, with 3.7 million households and 1.3 million elderly individuals receiving RM100 to RM500.

KUALA LUMPUR: Phase one payments for the 2026 Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) have commenced today, benefiting five million recipients.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the disbursement covers 3.7 million households and 1.3 million elderly individuals without spouses.

Each eligible recipient will receive between RM100 and RM500 depending on their qualification.

“The improvements to STR, now integrated with the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, ensure that eligible groups receive more consistent assistance to meet their basic needs,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that STR is intended as quarterly financial aid for relief during peak periods like festive seasons.

SARA conversely offers stable monthly support for essential living expenses.

Anwar emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring every citizen can live with dignity.

He stated the MADANI government will ensure no one is left behind amid the rising cost of living.
