The Coroner’s Court will visit the school hostel where Zara Qairina was found unconscious, as the inquest into her death continues with teacher testimonies.
KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court is tentatively planning a site visit to the school hostel linked to Zara Qairina Mahathir’s death next week.
Lawyer Shahlan Jufri, representing the girl’s mother, said the exact date for the visit to SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar is yet to be fixed.
He confirmed all child witnesses have now completed their testimony in the closed-door proceedings.
A school teacher is scheduled to give evidence this Friday, with several others to be called next week.
In today’s session, the 23rd child witness was recalled regarding items received from Zara Qairina.
Exhibits admitted included an avocado-shaped keychain and several pieces of paper.
The witness stated the items were given by Zara Qairina via friends but could not recall the exact date.
Zara Qairina, 13, died in hospital on July 17 last year after being found unconscious in a drain near the school hostel.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers ordered an inquest after reviewing the police investigation report.
Her grave was exhumed on August 8 for a post-mortem examination prior to the inquest directive.
