Transport Ministry revokes e-hailing driver’s PSV licence after alleged sexual harassment of passenger in Johor Bahru, with police investigation ongoing.
PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has instructed the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to revoke the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence of an e-hailing driver involved in a sexual harassment incident against a passenger in Johor Bahru, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said today.
The Seremban Member of Parliament said the ministry views the incident involving a Grab driver very seriously.
“The revocation of the PSV licence means that the driver is no longer allowed to operate on any e-hailing platform,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
Anthony added that the ministry, through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), will also summon all e-hailing service operators, including Grab, to present improvement action plans, particularly on passenger safety measures.
“MOT will not tolerate any behaviour that compromises passenger safety, and we are prepared to support the victim to ensure that police action is taken against the perpetrator,” he said.
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showing a Grab driver speaking in Mandarin allegedly harassing his female passenger. The video shows the driver reaching towards the rear passenger seat while asking the woman her age in Mandarin.
It is understood that the incident occurred while the female passenger was travelling from Taman Mount Austin to R&F Mall, near the Johor Causeway.
The case is currently under police investigation.
