A Malaysian job seeker shares frustration over a five-minute interview where a company rejected their resume. Netizens call for respect and better candidate screening.
THERE is nothing more frustrating than being rejected during an interview, but for one Malaysian job seeker, it felt as though they were given no time to process the rejection.
The job seeker shared on Threads that they had attended the “shortest interview of their life,” being rejected after only five minutes.
“After flipping through my resume for a bit, they said, ‘Sorry, your qualifications do not fit this position.’
“Why call me for an interview if I did not qualify in the first place? I even attached my resume in the application,” the post claimed.
Netizens sympathised with the job seeker, sparking a discussion on this seemingly prevalent issue and calling for employers to treat candidates with courtesy and respect their time.
“It’s really frustrating, right? I experienced the same. None of them even read my resume and then said I didn’t fit their requirements. They called me just to make a statement, opened the interview, but there was no suitable candidate,” one user wrote.
“I once went for an interview only to find out that the HR staff were on leave. They didn’t notify the candidates at all,” another shared.
“Pity you. They should have screened their candidates beforehand. What a waste of time and money,” commented another user.
Others advised the aggrieved job seeker to call out the company for wasting their time.
“I think we should be allowed to respond that this is a complete waste of my time and that they should have the decency to read the resume beforehand,” one user wrote.
“I’ve spoken up to people like this before. They’re wasting my time and my leave as well. Useless HR and useless managers. They don’t know how to respect other people’s time,” added another.
