“I have a question to foreigners coming to Malaysia. Why are you looking for tour guides in dating apps?” she wrote.

IF you’ve scrolled through dating apps recently, chances are you may have come across a foreigner planning a trip to Malaysia — and looking for someone to “show them around.”

But one Malaysian woman is calling it out.

In a Threads post that has since sparked debate online, user valentinewinters_ questioned why some foreign men use dating apps to look for “tour guides” while visiting the country.

“I have a question to foreigners coming to Malaysia. Why are you looking for tour guides in dating apps?” she wrote.

She claimed that some visitors appear to be seeking locals to bring them around tourist spots — while also expecting casual flings.

“All I hear is that you’re looking for someone to show you around, at the same time fool around with,” she added.

In her post, she also warned foreign visitors not to “play” with Malaysian women, suggesting that such behaviour could lead to heartbreak — or backlash from protective families.

“Please don’t be playing like that with my Malaysian queens, either you’ll break their hearts or their entire family be coming for you,” she wrote, ending her post with: “We are Asians for a reason.”

In a post that drew agreement from others, user @fishgoesblublub admitted she had once fallen into the pattern herself.

“I was one of the people who fell for this because I didn’t know better at the time. That said, I hope the girls here choose not to play tour guide, because in the end there’s nth long term to gain.

“It’s rarely a real friendship, once they leave, they repeat the same pattern in another country and move on. You’re better off meeting locals instead, at least they have their own cars to pick you up.”

Her comment resonated with several others in the thread. User @therebeccaoffical responded:

“Omg yes gurl. I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time.”
