“KL is so cheap” – Woman moves from JB to KL, shocked to find bazaar food cheaper, M’sians agree in unison

“Seriously, I’ve never seen prices like this at any bazaar in JB. KL is so cheap. I’m happy.”

A woman who recently moved from Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur has gone viral after expressing surprise that Ramadan bazaar food in the capital is significantly cheaper than in her hometown.

In a post on Threads, the woman shared that she relocated to Kuala Lumpur four months ago and is currently living in Melawati.

“I just moved to KL four months ago and I’m staying in Melawati. Before this, I was living in Johor Bahru. Yes, I was really shocked by the food prices at the bazaars here.

“Why is it so cheap, I can’t process it. Seriously, I’ve never seen prices like this at any bazaar in JB.

“KL is so cheap. I’m happy.”

Several users from Johor Baru echoed similar sentiments, claiming that prices in JB are noticeably higher.

“I’m from JB and currently still living there. I was so shocked when I travelled to other states and saw the prices compared to JB. The difference is like night and day. It’s so much more affordable elsewhere, especially in places like Terengganu and Perak. Sometimes I feel like staying there, but JB is still my hometown,” one user shared.

Another added: “I’m originally from JB but have been living in KL since 2007. Things in JB are expensive, including food. Even baking ingredients cost more. It’s stressful.”
