Sabah holds talks with MOF to refine targeted diesel subsidy implementation, addressing stakeholder concerns from July 1 rollout.

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Government is engaging with the Finance Ministry (MOF) and relevant federal agencies to refine the implementation mechanism of the targeted diesel subsidy programme in the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said the move aims to address issues faced by various affected stakeholders following the expansion of the targeted subsidy programme to Sabah on July 1.

“A follow-up meeting involving state government bodies, MOF Malaysia, and federal agencies will be held on July 17 to examine these concerns and formulate appropriate recommendations,” he said in a statement today.

Hajiji stated that the meeting will be chaired by State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman to ensure all operational improvements are thoroughly evaluated.

The targeted diesel subsidy implementation was also a key agenda item during the latest State Cabinet meeting held on July 13.

The Chief Minister stressed that the state government takes all feedback seriously, prompting instructions for relevant agencies to deeply study the socio-economic impacts on the ground.

Appropriate solutions and recommendations will be considered during the upcoming federal-state discussions to ease the transition for affected sectors, he added.
