Defending champion Edven Ying and fellow local talent Ruhanraj Vinayagam are among the golfers set to compete at the PGM Royal Pahang Closed Championship at Kelab Golf DiRaja Pahang.
KUANTAN, July 21: Defending champion Edven Ying and fellow local talent Ruhanraj Vinayagam are relishing the opportunity to compete on home soil at the PGM Royal Pahang Closed Championship, which tees off today at Kelab Golf DiRaja Pahang.
The tournament’s final round will be played on Thursday, July 23.
Cheok Wen Han topped Monday’s qualifier, repeating his achievement from last week’s event in Pekan, with 14 players advancing to the main championship.
A strong field featuring several of the leading players on the PGM Order of Merit and experienced veterans is expected to battle for honours this week.
Among those taking on the challenging coastal conditions are Ervin Chang, Shaifubari Muda, Danny Chia, Marcus Lim, Ben Leong and Jeremiah Kim.
Shaifubari will be aiming to maintain his momentum after winning the PGM Royal Pekan Closed Championship last week.
In the Ladies Championship, Liyana Durisic will be looking to bounce back with a victory, while Zulaikah Nasser arrives in strong form after claiming the title in Pekan last week.
The PGM Royal Pahang Closed Championship 2026 offers a total prize purse of RM180,000, with the Ladies Championship carrying an additional RM30,000.
The tournament is hosted by Kelab Golf DiRaja Pahang and will be played over a par-72 course.
