Smartboards to be installed at all KEMAS kindergartens by 2026

All KEMAS Tabika classes nationwide will get smartboards by end of 2025 to boost tech-driven early childhood education, says Ahmad Zahid.

SEREMBAN: All KEMAS Tabika (kindergarten) classes across the country are expected to have smartboards installed by the end of next year, in a move to enhance technology-driven teaching approaches in early childhood education.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said KEMAS’s education digitalisation efforts formed part of the agency’s wider transformation, including the introduction of new learning methods such as artificial intelligence (AI) tools for children from the age of two.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said incorporating technology into early education was crucial to ensuring KEMAS pupils gain exposure to interactive learning approaches aligned with current trends.

“I suggest that, at the initial stage, one smartboard for each district. Insya-Allah, we will ensure that all KEMAS classes are equipped with this facility by the end of next year,” he said in his address to KEMAS staff in Mantin today.

He said the phased adoption of smartboards was part of efforts to introduce new pedagogical practices and enhance teaching methods in KEMAS classes.

Ahmad Zahid said KEMAS was also stepping up efforts to strengthen Quranic education and develop children’s values through an initiative that has been in place for the past three years, introducing children as young as two to Quranic learning and memorisation, with a particular focus on Juz 30 of the Quran.

He said the programme had gained strong support from parents, particularly those who face challenges in finding time or acquiring the knowledge to guide their children in Quranic learning.

“To ensure the effectiveness of this learning approach, KEMAS has also partnered with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Yayasan Pahang and Yayasan Pintar to develop appropriate pedagogical methods,” he said.
