Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil demands immediate investigation after journalist Haresh Deol was assaulted by three men in Bangsar
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has called for an immediate investigation into the assault of journalist Haresh Deol in Bangsar.
Fahmi emphasised that media practitioners’ safety while performing their duties cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
“I was informed about this incident while attending a programme in Kota Kinabalu,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The minister added that he contacted Haresh’s brother for more details about the afternoon attack.
“Haresh informed that he had just finished filing a police report and is currently completing the medical report.”
Earlier, Haresh, who is National Press Club deputy president and co-founder of news portal TwentyTwo13, reported being attacked by two men while heading to his car.
Another individual recorded the incident using a mobile phone, according to his post on X.
Brickfields district police chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook confirmed police are tracking three men believed involved in the incident.
The assault occurred on Jalan Maarof near a shopping mall parking lot when Haresh was walking on the sidewalk towards Jalan Telawi. – Bernama
