GenKru grows unstoppable

KRU returned to stage once again for its final show of the year with genKRU The Finale: One More Time that was held at Malaysia National Hockey Stadium last saturday.

The concert marked the group’s fifth large-scale show in 2025, following its record-breaking four-night run at Axiata Arena that drew a huge demand from fans.

The outdoor concert, presented by Icon Entertainment, carried a full 90s dress code theme. Thousands of fans arrived in retro outfits as they prepared to relive the trio’s biggest hits. The impressive turnout underscored what organisers described as “unshakeable demand” for KRU’s live shows.

The night opened with an orchestral overture before KRU hit the stage with a medley of Fobia and Salah Siapa, setting the tone for a high-energy performance. The trio moved through a long list of fan favourites, including Awas, Mengerti, Voodoo, Intifada, Sampai, One More Time and Fanatik. Their signature blend of choreography, tight harmonies and nostalgia resonated throughout the stadium.

Guest performers added to the excitement with appearances by Juliana Banos, Elite, Adam AF, Dina Nadzir, Datuk Vida and Leona. The crowd responded with cheers as each guest brought back familiar memories from the golden era of pop.

The concert’s extended setlist featured more than 20 tracks, ending on a sentimental note with Terhangat Di Pasaran. Fans sang along until the final word, making it clear why KRU continues to command such strong loyalty after decades in the industry.

Fans packed the venue in retro outfits as the group powered through a 24-song setlist that spanned its three-decade career.

Icon Entertainment founder Iman Tang said the decision to stage another concert so soon after the May shows came directly from fan pressure.

“Since the earlier concerts, Icon Entertainment has been pushed to bring KRU back on stage. The demand for a large-scale KRU show is still very high,” he said.

Iman added that the current momentum mirrors global touring trends, noting that multi-day concerts and repeat shows are becoming more common as fans increasingly seek out live experiences.

A powerful moment as kru closed the night with terhangat di pasaran, leaving the crowd on their feet until the final note.

“We are starting to see the same trend in Malaysia. When demand is strong, organisers are more willing to add shows. This finale happened because the fans wanted it,” he said.

With five major concerts completed in a year alone, 2025 has cemented KRU’s status as one of Malaysia’s most enduring pop groups. The Finale: One More Time closed the group’s touring cycle on a triumphant note, proving that its legacy is still very much alive and that the demand for its music shows no sign of slowing.
