Free passport replacement for flood victims in Malaysia

Malaysian Immigration Department offers free replacement passports for flood victims with lost or damaged travel documents

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department is providing free replacements for Malaysian International Passports lost or damaged in recent floods.

Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said this initiative aims to ease burdens and ensure travel needs proceed without disruption.

“Victims whose passports are lost or damaged due to floods may apply for replacement passports free of charge at any nearby Immigration office,” he stated.

He expressed hope this would help flood victims resume their daily affairs more easily.

Applicants must ensure their original passports had at least six months’ validity remaining.

Required documents include identity cards and original passports if still available.

Flood victims must also submit police reports for lost passports.

They need flood disaster verification reports from the Fire and Rescue Department or local authorities.

Zakaria encouraged applicants to visit nearest Immigration offices for further inquiries and assistance.

The department remains committed to delivering quality service with people’s welfare as priority. – Bernama
