Zootopia 2 debut crowned as Disney’s biggest animated global opening for 2025
Zootopia 2 has generated over US$8 million (RM33 million) in Southeast Asia to date, with Malaysia (RM8.26 million) and Thailand (RM7 million) leading the regional charge, opening at first place in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Slithering straight to the top of the global box office, Zootopia 2 raked in a record-breaking US$556 million (RM2.2 billion) in its opening weekend, clinching the highest global debut of 2025, the fourth highest global opening of all-time and the highest global opening for any animated film in Disney history.
“We are thrilled by the success of Zootopia 2 across Southeast Asia. While Zootopia showed that anything is possible when you believe in yourself, Zootopia 2 shows the importance of community and what can be achieved together when we overcome our differences,” said The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia executive director and studio general manager Rachel Fong.
From now to Dec 7, fans are invited to a vibrant reimagining of downtown Zootopia at Sunway Pyramid. There will also be eye-catching photo spots and Zootopia 2-themed cinema spaces set up across other malls, drawing moviegoers to capture fun moments with their favourite characters at every corner.

In Zootopia 2, rookie cops Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan) arrives in Zootopia, turning the animal metropolis upside down.
To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. The film also features the voices of Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, Idris Elba, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, Nate Torrence and Shakira, who returns as Gazelle.
The film anchors the holiday corridor ahead of Avatar: Fire & Ash on Dec 18, with both films forming a powerful one-two punch for Disney to close the year.
