Singapore cyclist helped and fed by kind Malaysians after suffering a punctured tyre

“I don’t think I have ever spent 2 hours helping a stranger fix anything. Is it just that he has time on his hands? I don’t think so. He literally delayed his family dinner to help me fix my bike,” said the cyclist.

What started as a painful cycling trip quickly turned into a story of kindness for Singaporean cyclist Injaee.

He shared that he had cycled all the way from Singapore to Malaysia, but as he reached Kota Tinggi, his tyre was unfortunately punctured twice. To make matters worse, the sun was beginning to set and he did not have a campsite reservation. After walking 3 km, he finally reached a shoplot and met Faz, a kind Malaysian who offered him a seat.

“He repeatedly called his mother’s friend or his friend’s father who owns the campsite and managed to find me a vacant slot for the night,” Injaee recalled.

Another Malaysian, Isa, dropped by to help with Injaee’s bicycle tyre, though unfortunately, the tyre could not be revived.

Not letting that stop him, Isa then grabbed his van, loaded the bicycle, and helped Injaee reach the campsite faster — but not before stopping at a burger stall to treat him to a tasty burger.

“I don’t think I have ever spent 2 hours helping a stranger fix anything. Is it just that he has time on his hands? I don’t think so. He literally delayed his family dinner to help me fix my bike. What does he have that I don’t?” Injaee reflected.

The story resonated with netizens, with one commenting: @bungactiongirl: “People all over are always decent — Kampung folks are always friendly and helpful. Just smile, be respectful. Ride safe!”

Another user added: @lisa.syen: “That’s Malaysia for you. Glad you got to experience our Malaysian heart and kindness… and glad you’re safe!”
