Candidate says Bukit Gelugor polls least exciting thus far

GEORGE TOWN: Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) Bukit Gelugor by-election candidate Datuk Huan Cheng Guan has said this is the least exciting polls the state has seen to date.
The PCM vice-president lamented the “cold” (unexciting) mood as there was a lack of party flags, banners and other paraphernalia common during other elections.
“Posters and flags are hardly seen,” he said at a press conference after a walkabout at the Bandar Baru Air Itam market today.
The lack of an election mood may be due to the decision by Barisan Nasional to sit this one out.
The seat is seeing a four-cornered fight between Huan, DAP’s Ramkarpal Singh and independents Mohd Nabi Bux Mohd Abd Sathar and Abu Backer Mohd Zan.
Huan also played down his chances of an upset, saying Ramkarpal is clearly the favourite to win.
He said the other two candidates were not stepping up their game to lend the election some excitement.
“I hope I will not lose my deposit,” he said, adding that the support from the people was encouraging.
During his walkabout, he bumped into Ramkarpal who was also making his campaign rounds, with the two shaking hands before going their separate way.
