Veteran film director Jamil Sulong dies

    KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran film director Datuk Jamil Sulong died at his son's house in Bukit Utama Damansara here last night. He was 88.
    Jamil died of a stroke at about 9.30pm at Arjunaidi's house. According to another son, Anwardi, the film director was earlier admitted to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for almost a month.
    He said Jamil's body would be taken to the Masjid Al-Ghufran, Taman Tun Dr Ismail here for final rites and prayers after Friday prayers tomorrow. Anwardi said his father would be buried at the Janda Baik Muslim Cemetery in Bentong, Pahang tomorrow.
    Jamil was known for such films as 'Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup', 'Si Tanggang', 'Lela Manja', 'Bidasari' and 'Raja Bersiong'. He is survived by Datin Rosnani and four chidlren, Murniaty, Arjunaidi, Anwardi and Asnadi. – Bernama
