Lorry driver jailed, fined for causing hurt and vandalism
KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry driver was sentenced to five days in jail and fined RM4,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today for causing hurt and vandalism.
K. Balan, 34, was fined RM2,000 in default two months in prison for causing hurt to P. Kumarasamy, 34, at Nurin Restaurant, Jalan Shelly in Cheras at 4.30pm on Aug 31, 2012.
Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris sentenced him to five days in prison, to run from the date of his arrest on April 4, and fined him RM2,000 or another two months' jail for breaking a security guard post window.
Balan committed the offence at the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction site in Jalan Cochrane, Cheras at 12.01am on Jan 8, 2014.
He paid both fines. Inspector Zuraimi Kamarozzaman appeared for the prosecution while Balan was represented by counsel K. Komagan. – Bernama
