Foreign forces to blame for destablising Malaysia, says Mahdzir Khalid
BERANANG: Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has blamed foreign forces of trying to destabilise Malaysia as a Muslim country via continuous vicious attacks towards the Barisan Nasional government through Sarawak Report.
The Education Minister said the UK-based web portal has shown its true colours with malicious and erroneous stories about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and aims to put an end to the Bumiputera supremacy in the country.
"Sarawak Report is not based in Kuching but it is in London. Who is behind this portal? Claire Brown and who is this Claire? She is the sister to Gordon Brown, the former prime minister of UK," said Mahdzir in his speech to officiate the Hulu Langat Umno division meeting here this afternoon.
He reminded party members to close ranks and remain strong in supporting the Umno leadership during this challenging time.
"Umno members must be patient and allow party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak to explain and overcome this 1MDB issue. We must stand united and not allow the foreign elements to sever our loyalty to the party," said Mahdzir, adding that foreign news reports are also out to unsettle the party members' trust on the party's leadership.
He said if the Umno grassroot leaders and senior members are not behind the party president, "it is possible for Umno to lose its power as the ruling party."
"When members do not trust the president, the party will have to find its foothold and it will contribute to the government's downfall. This is what they (foreign media) actually want," he said.
Mahdzir also blamed the Jews and Christians for having a clear agenda to annihilate Malaysia as a Muslim country by comparing it to the turmoil in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and other Muslim nations.
"They (Jews and Christians) categorised these Muslim nations as the first segment of Islamic countries and we have seen these nations experiencing chaos and turbulence largely because of their agenda. Malaysia is next on their list in this segment and you can see that now from Sarawak Report's venomous stories," he added.
The foreign agenda, he said, has already creep in among the Umno leaders.
"I am aware from within Umno, there are people who are starting to believe in their agenda. If we don't stop this now, we will lose power," Mahdzir added.
