Petronas Chemicals awards RM2b deal to Italy-China group

    PETALING JAYA: Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd has awarded a US$482 million (RM2.05 billion) construction contract to a consortium comprising Italy's Tecnimont SpA and China's Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corp.
    In a filing with the stock exchange, Petchem said the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract is for a 900,000-tonne-per-annum polypropylene plant within the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (Rapid) petrochemical project in Pengerang, Johor.
    The contract began yesterday and the completion date is expected to be on April 15, 2019.
