PETALING JAYA: Lenovo Technology Sdn Bhd (Lenovo Malaysia) said it will continue to invest in building a stronger presence and winning more market share, with the introduction of new devices and a continued focus in key industries within the country.
“Through our DNA of innovation, Lenovo is investing more than ever in innovation that differentiates our products and sets the standard for quality, reliability, style and speed. This is to ultimately give the best and most innovative products to our customers,” its country general manager Khoo Hung Chuan (pix) told SunBiz via email.
“We have a magnificent group of committed engineers, strategically placed around the world to help define future technologies and products, set the priorities for Lenovo’s technology development, specify the functions and performances of new products and contributes to product development,” he added.
Khoo said, the company will continue to deliver the best products in the industry, enhancing the customer experience and coming up with multi-mode devices, such as Yoga Tablet 2, Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, and Yoga 3 Pro.
Globally, he said Lenovo is the leading company in the personal computer market, for the ninth consecutive quarter with a record high of 20.6% market share.
For the mobile business, which includes products from Motorola, Lenovo-branded mobile phones, Android tablets and smart TVs, Khoo said Lenovo’s quarterly sales were US$2.1 billion (RM8.95 billion), up 33% year-on-year.
“In the tablet market, we continued to outpace the market. It solidified its third position worldwide,” he added.
On its expansion plans, Khoo said the company is planning to set up more stores in Malaysia as well as in the region, to cater to its customers’ needs.
“Building a stronger presence and winning more market share is more than just opening up more stores, it is also about engaging and understanding what the customers are saying.
“We have a vision and ability to continuously transform our company to deliver world-class products, and provide a rich customer experience,” he added, saying that currently it has authorised partners located across 13 states in the country.
On the outlook, Khoo said he expects the continuing increase in multi-device offerings to create new form factors such as big screens and enable new usage scenarios.
“For every industry and business, the concern usually revolves around the ever-changing market trends. It’s changing every second as we speak. This is also a good thing, as it means that the market is growing,” Khoo added.
