GEORGE TOWN: Penang is expecting more tourists this year compared to 2015, according to State Tourism Development Committee chairman Danny Law.
He said the industry expected more than the 6.25million tourist arrivals recorded last year and based the optimism on the current economic situation which made traveling in this region more attractive.
"I expect this year to be a busy one for the tourism industry," he said when launching the standardised paging board at the Penang International Airport today.
Law said the a standardised paging system was needed to properly manage arrivals at the facility.
"This system will enhance passenger management at the airport," he added.
Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) senior manager Ariff Jaafar said all tourism industry operators were required to use the board as of Mar 1.
He said the board will be provided free of charge but a RM50 fee will be imposed for damaged boards on return.
"A counter will be set up at the arrival concourse and will be managed by the Limo Drivers Cooperative," he said.
