DAP acting national chairman slaps colleagues in the face

PETALING JAYA: DAP acting national chairman Tan Kok Wai has "slapped" his colleagues in the face when he admitted that his party has empowered PAS.
Senator Datuk Chai Kim Sen, MCA Publicity Bureau chairman, said Tan's admission shows that DAP had repeatedly empowered PAS in the past, not just once or twice, but three times.
"DAP has repeatedly been whitewashing PAS for the sake of deceiving voters and because of this PAS has become very bold.
"This is especially so after the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (ii) Enactment 1993 and the Syariah Criminal Offences (Ta'zir) (Terengganu) Enactment 2001 were respectively passed in the Kelantan and Terengganu state legislative assemblies.
"In the end, PAS has been able to expand its influence from the east coast to the west coast," Chai said in a statement today.
He said no matter how Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Liew Chin Tong and other DAP leaders have been portrayed for whitewashing and empowering PAS, they continue to shift the blame to MCA despite the party having never worked with PAS.
"Tan's confession shows that with then Pakatan Rakyat's support, PAS won 21 parliamentary seats and DAP had indirectly admitted that the Rocket had empowered PAS.
"This ultimately enabled PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to table a Private Member's Bill on the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act, leading the country down the extremist route," Chai said.
He pointed out that Tan's remarks also exposes the fact that DAP leaders have been twisting words.
He added that the admission is akin to delivering DAP a slap on the face.
Chai urged DAP leaders to state if they agreed with Tan's admission and if they agree, then they should apologise for repeatedly deceiving, misleading and hurting the non-Muslim community.
He said if they did not agree then they should take action against Tan and clarify the party's position on this matter.
