Ideas for positive impact on climate change wanted

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian youths can make a postive impact through environmental change by going green.
Green Technology Corporation (Greentech Malaysia) chief executive officer Ahmad Hadri Haris said another method is also contributing their ideas on 'future energy' (alternative energy), which is the theme that will be debated at the World Expo held Astana, Kazakhstan from June 10 to Sept 10.
In his opening remarks today, he used the mathematical concept called the 'Butterfly Effect' as an analogy on how small efforts can make a huge change.
The concept, coined by the American mathematician and metereologist Edward Lorenz, states that minute causes can result in a large effect.
Also present was the Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who launched the Malaysia Expo 2017 Youth contest.
The contest is aimed at finding youths who would research and strategise how Malaysia can showcase to the world its green growth leadership.
Saying that ecology is a close subject close to his heart as he had studied it in university, he stressed that it was not only about going green, but also sustainable.
Malaysians from 18 years old onwards can submit their ideas that can have a positive impact on climate change.
The selected participants will undergo a two-month internship to sharpen their projects before it is showcased at an all expensed paid trip to the World Expo held Astana, Kazakhstan from June 10 to Sept 10.
Potential applicants can pitch their ideas or inspiring stories using the #GreenGrowthGuru through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
