Remand extended for Shalwati

    STOCKHOLM (Jan 31, 2014): The prosecutor has obtained an order from the Solna District Court on Friday to remand Shalwati Norshal until Feb 10, to facilitate investigations into an incident where her son's hands were allegedly struck.
    The court issued the order to enable the prosecutor, Anna Arnelle to further investigate the case.
    Shalwati was not present in court but via video link.
    On Thursday, the same court allowed the prosecutor to extend the remand for Shalwati's husband, Azizul Raheem Awalludin to another 11 days, until Feb 10.
    Azizul Raheem, a Tourism Malaysia officer, and Shalwati were earlier remanded since Dec 18. Since then, their remand has been extended thrice. There is no limit for remand in custody in Sweden.
    The couple's four children who were previously placed under the care of a Swedish non-Muslim foster family because their parents were held under remand in Sweden for alleged abuse one of the children, were handed over to the Malaysian Embassy here on Thursday.
    The children flew back to Malaysia at 6.30am local time today. – Bernama
