MUAR: Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government will ensure the development of Pagoh will continue if given the mandate once again in the parliamentary constituency in the 14th General Election.
Reiterating his commitment, the Prime Minister, who is also BN chairman, said the implementation of the High-Speed Rail (HSR), for example, was a major development that would bring big changes to Pagoh with economic spin-offs particularly.
"HSR will go through this area (Pagoh). It means Pagoh will undergo a major change (in the future)," he said when addressing about 20,000 members of the BN Youth and Puteri machinery at the National Youth Skills Institute in Pagoh near here today.
Also present were Johor BN chairman and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin, Puteri Umno vice chief Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan, MyPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas and Pagoh Umno Division acting chief Ismail Mohamed.

Najib, who is also Umno president, urged the people in Pagoh not to worry about the BN leaders in Pagoh who could represent them in the parliamentary seat.
"As long as the party is still there, we will continue the struggles. Don't worry, other leaders can come forward. (Datuk Seri) Mohamed Khaled here can help, I can also help. Pagoh will continue to forge ahead. if there is no party, nothing can be done," he said.
He also added that if no party such as BN was representing the people in that parliamentary constituency, it would be difficult for any development or allocation to be approved or disbursed.
Prior to this, the Prime Minister had said that Umno and BN would defend the Pagoh parliamentary seat in the coming GE14.
In the GE13, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was then the deputy prime minister and Umno deputy president, won the Pagoh parliamentary seat with 12,842 majority votes defeating Mohd Rozali Jamil of PAS.
