BN tries a friendly approach to win votes in Sungai Limau

ALOR STAR: First time candidate Datuk Norma Awang is adopting a friendly approach on the campaign trail in order to deliver the winning votes for the Sungai Limau constituency.
She said the approach that she and her team were taking was winning the hearts of villagers.
"What we did was to identify the voters who we can talk and persuade as well as PAS supporters who is friendly to us.
"We also focusing our campaign to the fence sitters," she told theSun, when met at one of her campaign stops at Bukit Besar, near here today.
The Umno Jerai Wanita chief is also confident that with the momentum she is on now, she believes that Barisan Nasional (BN) can get at least 30% of votes from PAS supporters Bukit Besar, Sg Dedap, Choras and other places in the constituency.
She also expressed her pleasure and told theSun that PAS supporters are friendlier now compared to the last time.
"Previously we can't event go to their villages, we were chased out," she said.
Norma, 59, will be contesting for the first time as an election candidate in her political career, which has spanned almost 30 years.
Considered a black area for BN, Sungai Limau has been a stronghold for PAS for more than four terms.
In the last general election, Sungai Limau was won by former Kedah MB Tan Sri Azizan Razak from PAS with a 2,774 majority of votes, defeating BN's Mohd Fadzillah Mohd Ali and two independent candidates.
Sungai Limau comprises about 28,000 voters with Malays forming the majority of the electorate.
