KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia Umno Grassroots Movement (GAUM) has lodged a police report on a Facebook posting that claimed Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman had something to do with alleged illegal logging activities in the Maliau Basin forest reserve.
Its president Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar described the claim made in an article with the heading, 'Pendedahan Eksklusif 2: Pembalakan Haram Hutan Simpan Mendapat Permit Dari Musa Aman? ' and accompanied by photographs purportedly of illegal logging activities in the area, as erroneous and malicious.
He said the photographs were actually of logging activities in a neighbouring country and not in Maliau Basin, Sabah.
"I understand that the Forestry Department has carried out an inspection on whether or not the claim was true.
"But the Sabah Chief Conservator of Forests (Datuk Sam Mannan) confirmed that the allegation by 'Neo Khai' is unfounded," he told reporters after making the report at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters in Karamunsing here today.
Zulkarnain believed the allegation against Musa, who is also Finance Minister was initiated by desperate parties who he challenged, should lodge a police report if they had solid evidence, instead of making mere claims. — Bernama
