KUALA LUMPUR: The first phase of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for housewives programme, also known as “Suri Incentive” programme, will receive RM20 million from the government, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The first stage will begin from Aug 15 till year-end, Wan Azizah said at a press conference in conjunction with the EPF International Social Security Conference 2018 today.
EPF CEO Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan said the first stage of the programme will be targeted at the nation’s e-Kasih registrants. At present, there are about 359,065 registrants including divorced women and widows.
“Our branches will be working with the government to reach out to the intended recipients,” Shahril said.
Established in 2007, e-Kasih is a needy family’s database system that aims to support the planning, implementation and monitoring of the poverty program for those in the bottom 40% (B40) category.
According to the government’s web portal, those who are entitled to register and enlisted into e-Kasih are households who earn less than RM1,000 a month at rural areas and RM1,500 at urban areas.
