KUALA LUMPUR: The loss of Puan Sri Lim Kim Hua, 89, was felt deeply today as her children spoke of a woman who they described as the "silent pillar" of their late father, Genting founder Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.
Speaking to theSun at the family's residence at Taman Duta here today, Kim Hua's youngest son Datuk Lim Chee Wah said: "I remember her most for her love for us as her children, and the way she taught us when we were young ... the way she disciplined us (was) very strict.
"I guess this has created a foundation for us; to be focused in our work and our duties ... as we should do to fulfill our lives.
"We've been with her all the way through. She has been a role model for us. She's the 'silent pillar' because she is a woman and stood behind her husband. It's been my father who has been building Genting, but she's been the silent pillar behind him," he said.
"The word 'silent' doesn't mean she does not say anything, but she's always stood behind her husband," he added.
Earlier today, both royalty and the business community came to pay their last respects to the late Kim Hua.
Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, the consort of Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah, made her appearance in the morning.
She spent some time with the family consoling them.
This was followed by Berjaya Corporation Bhd founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
It is expected that more personalities will attend Kim Hua's wake which ends on Monday.
Genting founder Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong passed away in 2007.
