Zahid casts vote in Bagan Datuk

BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi casts his vote at the Madrasah Manbail Ulum Sungai Nipah Darat, Rungkup here this morning.
Ahmad Zahid, 65, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Bagan Datuk parliamentary constituency, attired in a red and white corporate shirt, arrived at the compound of the madrasah at 8.01 am.
Accompanying him were his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis and eldest daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid.
Ahmad Zahid, who is defending the seat for the sixth term, was the first voter to casts his vote at the polling station.
The BN deputy chairman is facing PKR candidate Pakhrurrazi Arshad and Ata Abdul Muneim Hasan Adli (PAS) in a three-cornered fight.
In GE13, Ahmad Zahid defeated PKR candidate Madhi Hasan in a straight fight with a majority of 2,108 votes.
A total of 38 polling stations with 92 polling streams are made available in Bagan Datuk today to facilitate the polling process in conjunction with GE14 involving 47,309 voters. — Bernama
