Hong Seng secures RM112.3m contract to supply Covid PCR test kits to Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Hong Seng Consolidated Bhd has secured a RM112.32 million contract for the supply of Covid-19 PCR test kits to the Health Ministry through its 51%-owned indirect unit Pantasniaga Sdn Bhd.

The test kits are intended for the Institute Medical Research and Public Health Laboratory of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The contract is due to commence on July 26, 2021 and will end on July 26, 2021.

“Previously, Pantasniaga has already performed and fulfilled a few supply contracts for the Health Ministry and other Malaysian government agencies to supply PCR test kits in Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah to fight the virus outbreak,” said Hong Seng executive director Christopher Chan in a statement.

Pantasniaga is in the business of provisioning of PCR test kits and test labs set up for government and medical agencies. The company is also an authorised representative and distributor for BGI Genomics Co Ltd, a provider of genomic sequencing services and proteomic services, now serving customers in more than 66 countries. BGI also produces RT-PCR kits.

The contract is expected to contribute positively to the overall future earnings as well as the earnings per share of Hong Seng.
