Woman alarmed after e-hailing driver plants duit Raya note to contact her, raising concerns over safety and harassment risks

WOMEN’S safety remains a pressing concern, with some forms of harassment often going unnoticed or dismissed.

In a Threads post, a user known as @cakespongd shared an incident involving her female friend, which occurred late at night.

According to the post, her friend had taken an e-hailing ride and, after leaving the vehicle, received a missed call and a message from the driver claiming she had left something behind.

However, when she checked her belongings, she confirmed that nothing was missing.

Despite this, the driver insisted that she had left an item in the car. When asked for proof, he allegedly placed a duit Raya packet on the back seat, which is not belong to her and used it as a reason to continue contacting her.

The situation became more unsettling when the driver later sent a message asking, “Okay, you don’t like to be friends?”

It was also noted that he had not ended the ride even after dropping her off at her destination.

“In this situation, it would be acceptable if the driver had already ended the ride. However, it is very alarming that he planted duit Raya in the back seat, claimed it was hers, did not end the ride, and is now trying to be friends,” @cakespongd wrote.

She further stressed that such behaviour should not be taken lightly, describing it as “creepy” and inappropriate for someone providing a transport service.

“To the point that my friend thought she was ‘overreacting’, when clearly this could have escalated further,” she added.
