Job seeker says advertised pay of RM2,200 to RM5,500 did not match final interview offer, raising concerns over recruitment practices.

A Malaysian job seeker recently alleged that they were misled by a company after discovering that the salary range advertised did not match the final offer made during the interview.

In a post shared on Threads, the job seeker claimed they were offered only RM1,700 during their interview with the company.

According to an image of the job advertisement attached to the post, the salary range was stated as between RM2,200 and RM5,500 per month for permanent or full-time staff.

The company was said to be based in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

Netizens expressed shock and frustration over what they described as the company’s blatant attempt to lure candidates with misleading information.

“Believe me when I say that this company is a red flag,” one user commented.

“Most job vacancies that claim a RM3,000 to RM5,000 basic salary are cons. They only want to hook candidates. In reality, once you start working there, you’re offered only RM1,200 to RM1,700, with the excuse that it’s a starting salary and that you’ll get a raise after two or three years,” another user said.

“Employers and recruitment agents are often like that. That’s why I turned them down. The job descriptions and requirements are extremely high, but the pay they offer is low. The recruitment environment these days really has no consideration at all,” another commented.

Meanwhile, one user expressed scepticism about the company’s location in Pudu, alleging that they had attended an interview at a company in the same area years ago, only to later be warned that the company had scammed others. Several other users echoed the woman’s allegations.
