A Malaysian woman renting a room says her landlords entered her home without notice, saw her drying underwear and opened her bedroom door while she slept.
A Malaysian woman has recently accused her landlords of invading her privacy, alleging that the married couple frequently showed up at her home unannounced.
She is renting a room in the house and claims that her deposit amounts to around RM1,000.
Taking to Threads, the young woman claimed that during the first unusual visit, the husband and wife entered the house without informing her beforehand to conduct a “spot check”.
“They came into my house without letting me know. Clothes were left out to dry at the time and, of course, they saw all of my undergarments. I was at work then. Imagine the embarrassment,” she said.

She further alleged that the couple slept in an unoccupied room while she was at home.
On another occasion, the woman added that the wife opened her bedroom door while she was still asleep, without asking for permission. The wife later claimed she thought the woman was not at home. The husband was also present at the time.
The young tenant then explained that one of the terms of the agreement stated that the owner could enter the house at any time for repair works, and that the tenant was not allowed to change the locks or make duplicate keys.
The woman’s post shocked many online users, who urged her to move to another place and report the couple to the authorities.
However, some users countered that since she only rented a room, the landlords were allowed to enter other premises of the house anytime they want but agreed that entering her bedroom without prior notice was inappropriate.
“As a property owner, this is not acceptable. Owners are supposed to inform tenants of their arrival so they can be prepared. If the tenant is not at home, the owner should wait until they return,” one netizen pointed out.
“Even if the agreement says the owner can come at any time, it doesn’t mean they can just enter without notice. They still need to inform you in advance,” said another.
Meanwhile, another commenter stated that since the rental agreement was not stamped, the woman would be able to recover her full deposit after lodging a police report.
