Shye’s Atmospheric single explores themes of emotional detachment
SINGAPORE singer-songwriter Shye has released her latest single Smoke, offering a preview of her upcoming album The Doves Came Home, set for release on May 8.
The track marks her return with a sound that leans into atmospheric textures and introspective themes, continuing her run of self-produced releases.
Smoke explores emotional detachment
Smoke is built around layered guitars, drifting vocals and slow-moving production, creating a hazy soundscape that mirrors its central theme of emotional distance.

Shye explained the track was inspired by visual imagery rather than sound, drawing from scenes in the series Twin Peaks.
She said the idea of smoke drifting through space shaped the song’s structure and its mood.
DIY approach defines career
Shye has built a reputation for her self-produced sound, handling all aspects of her music from recording to mastering.
She first gained attention at 16 after winning the Vans Musicians Wanted competition in 2018 and has since released multiple projects, including her debut album Days to Morning Glory in 2020.
Her work has also led to appearances at regional and international festivals, alongside recognition through industry awards and features.
With Smoke, Shye continues to expand her catalogue while setting the tone for her next full-length release.
