ALOR SETAR: The Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) is planning to bring products by KEDA to the global market in three to five years.
Its general manager Ismasuhaimi Shariff said KEDA is currently focusing on marketing the products in the Southeast Asian region involving the Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian markets.
“We aim to market the products of KEDA entrepreneurs internationally within three to five years, most of which are food products that are Kedah’s trademark.
“Now the country is facing the problem of food security, thus KEDA will produce food products. If Thai products can be marketed internationally, we too have to compete to reach the same level,“ he told reporters today.
He said that currently, there are over 300 active KEDA entrepreneurs working on various types of products in the food and beverage cluster and wellness and lifestyle cluster.
“KEDA helps all entrepreneurs from the beginning and we will continue to guide them to develop their products. KEDA also conducts courses and online business exposure for all entrepreneurs,“ he said.
Earlier, Ismasuhaimi officiated the pre-launch ceremony for KEDA entrepreneurs who will join the Rural Entrepreneurs Carnival (KUD)@Putrajaya 2023 at the KEDA Headquarters Complex, here.
Twenty-eight KEDA entrepreneurs will participate in the carnival slated for Nov 22 to 26 at Anjung Floria, Putrajaya.
Meanwhile, the managing director of Hazra Jaya Food Enterprise, Nor Hathmina Ibrahim, 55, who will participate in the carnival, said that KEDA opens up opportunities for small entrepreneurs to promote and sell their products.
“This food product business started in 1994 on a small scale. After that, I became an entrepreneur under KEDA in 2018. Our latest product is ‘Laksa Kedah, a ready-to-eat food that hit the market in September,“ she said.
She hopes the company can market their products internationally, which will help introduce Kedah to the world. - Bernama
